Mohali Takes Action to Ensure Safer and Legal Constructions

                Mohali: In the wake of Sohana building tragedy, Mohali municipal corporation (MC) started a massive drive to demolish unauthorised constructions in Mohali. An unauthorised 
construction was demolished at Mataur and Kumbran villages of Mohali on Thursday, said MC commissioner T Benith.
A massive drive was carried out by officials in villages within municipal limits.
Benith said the demolition of ongoing works was carried out in Mataur and Kumbran villages against ongoing construction without any approval.
MC commissioner T Benith said, "We are already conducting a survey to identify such buildings which are coming up without approval. Also, basements being dug up without prior 
permission will face legal action. As we receive information about illegal construction, we are carrying out demolition drives."

He said the officers, particularly building inspectors, have been directed that stringent action should be taken against illegal construction in villages even on Saturdays, Sundays, and 
holidays. The commissioner directed the officers/officials to not allow any construction without approval and to take immediate action against any illegal construction as per law. Any 
negligence from any official will not be tolerated.
