Punjab Government Eases Registration of Small Plots in Illegal Colonies Without NOC for 90 Days

In a significant move aimed at benefiting property owners in Punjab, the state government has temporarily removed the requirement for a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for registering
small plots (up to 500 square yards) in illegal colonies. This decision, which is valid for a 90-day period, comes as part of an effort to streamline property transactions and provide relief to
residents who have already made payments or acquired plots in unauthorized areas.

This move is expected to impact thousands of property owners across the state, particularly in the 14,000+ illegal colonies in Punjab, though it does not imply regularization of these
colonies. To deter the development of unauthorized colonies in the future, the government has also implemented stringent penalties for those involved in the illegal development of land.
With this change, the government aims to simplify the property registration process while maintaining strict checks on future land development activities
