Union Minister Piyush Goyal, at CREDAI's 25th foundation day, urged real estate developers to adopt sustainable practices to reduce air pollution, particularly in metropolitan cities. He recommended CREDAI establish a team to study the adverse effects of construction on air quality and encouraged the use of steel and precast fabrication for faster, cleaner construction. Highlighting the need for affordable rental housing to prevent slum proliferation, Goyal assured government support in creating such projects to rehabilitate slum dwellers with dignity. The minister emphasized greater formalization in the sector, such as digital payments, EPFO enrollment, and worker benefits like ESIC, to enhance real estate's contribution to India’s GDP. He lauded RERA's role in eliminating malpractice and strengthening buyer confidence. Additionally, Goyal encouraged developers to venture into international markets and contribute to service exports. The speech reflects a holistic approach to making real estate environmentally sustainable, socially responsible, and globally competitive.
