AI Push in Panchkula: Khattar Showcases Energy Savings, Smarter Housing at IISF 2025

Union minister for power, housing and urban affairs Manohar Lal Khattar underlined India’s accelerating innovation momentum as he addressed the India International Science Festival in Panchkula. Speaking at the “New Age Technologies-Vision 2047” session, he positioned artificial intelligence and 6G as central forces shaping the nation’s technological future.


He reaffirmed the shared responsibility of scientists, students, and policymakers to advance emerging technologies responsibly. According to him, AI will be the transformative engine of India’s next growth phase, delivering targeted solutions across high-impact sectors.

Highlighting the energy sector, Khattar stated that AI-enabled tools such as smart metering, predictive equipment maintenance, and efficient power operations can substantially reduce costs while improving reliability. He added that India is now well-prepared to integrate intelligent systems into large-scale energy networks.


In the housing ecosystem, the minister emphasised AI’s ability to elevate living standards through climate-responsive home design. He explained that AI can support layouts and structures that naturally regulate temperature, reducing energy use and improving comfort throughout the year.


Khattar also announced the launch of the ₹1 lakh crore Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) Fund under the National Research Foundation. By encouraging private- sector R&D in fields like AI, quantum computing, clean energy and biotechnology, the initiative aims to position India as a global innovation powerhouse.
