NOIDA: Seeking efforts to curb plummeting pollution levels in NCR, the CONRWA wrote to the Union minister for housing and urban affairs (MoHUA), Manohar Lal Khattar, calling for joint action by the Centre and state govt. The residents wrote against dumping C&D waste construction materials in public places, asked for regular cleaning of roads by vacuum suction machines, placing air filters in chimneys of power generation plants and removal of encroachment from roads to streamline vehicular movement. "It is not only in Delhi, but the entire NCR, where the level of pollution, both PM2.5 and PM10, remains much higher than designated standards throughout the year. At present, the level of pollution, both PM2.5 and PM10, has reached the danger level in NCR . Due to this, it has become difficult for citizens to breathe, leading to adverse effects on health. Therefore, there is a need for joint action by officers of all the concerned departments to prevent pollution," wrote PS Jain, president of CONRWA in his letter to Khattar. AS Gulati, senior vice president of CONRWA, asked for a policy to trace all sources of pollution and act simultaneously to curb it. Along with the govts of UP, Delhi, Rajasthan and Haryana, a copy of the letter was also sent to the Prime Minister as well. Source : Economic Times
