Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah stated that the real estate sector will play a decisive role in achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat @ 2047, highlighting the Modi government’s focus on world-class infrastructure and planned urban development. Speaking at CREDAI’s national conference in New Delhi, he emphasised that strong foundations have already been laid over the last 11 years to support long-term economic growth.
He noted that initiatives such as the National Infrastructure Pipeline and continuous policy reforms have significantly improved urban infrastructure, making Indian cities more investment-friendly and future-ready. According to Shah, the removal of long- standing sectoral bottlenecks has accelerated growth across industries, with real estate emerging as a major contributor.

Highlighting CREDAI’s contribution, Shah said the organisation has brought credibility, transparency, and ethical discipline to the developer community. With nearly 13,000 developers across 230 cities, CREDAI has played a key role in formalising the real estate sector and positioning it as a structured and reliable industry.
Addressing future demand, the Home Minister said India’s urban population is expected to reach 40% by 2035 and nearly 50% by 2047, placing a major responsibility on developers. He urged the sector to focus on affordable, eco-friendly, and inclusive housing, encouraging large developers to actively participate in low-cost housing solutions.
On reforms, Shah highlighted RERA as a globally respected framework that safeguards homebuyers and ensures transparency and quality. He added that benefits from GST reforms, 100% FDI via the automatic route, and the ₹60,000 crore National Urban Housing Fund have strengthened the sector, making real estate a key pillar in India’s journey toward becoming a developed nation.
